SPA ANARCHY a Spa Critique

SPA ANARCHY a Spa Critique. I thought I would take to my blog to critique the spa’s that I will be visiting the next couple of months.

I will critique and analyze the spa, on the most positive level, assuming each spa is the best spa. Why? Because its a spa, and it was developed for one purpose only.....to make me feel luxurious, to make me feel like a Princess for that day only. My critique is based on the believe that any spa, even the local one, can NOT be a place to avoid ( I will not encourage to you avoid a spa, ever). Instead there is a reason to visit each one. For each spa, I will find the most sought after treatment and reason for its existence.

Most importantly, this is Spa Anarchy, I will write what I want, when I want, how I want. I may not follow criteria.

I will rate the spa’s on a 5 Robe scale. (whether or not, that spa provides a robe for its clients)

5 ropes for the Luxuriates, most amazing experience. This Spa makes you feel like Princess Kate

4 ropes: Amazing. Robe provided but not a 5 experience.
3 ropes: Please go, you will love. May or may not have a robe provided.

2 ropes: Good for the day. No robe provided
1 rope: The Local spa, good for ‘a run in’ quick services.

Please note* all information and critique and scale is subject to change as we continue and gather information and begin to rate.

So who am I? I will be visiting spa’s anonymously, as a paying guest and rate the spa services, menu/options, facilities, location, price, staff and overall spa experience.

My goal is to enhance your choices on spa searches, for now and in the future. To give you input of my experience, mostly what I liked and enjoyed, with out focusing on any negative experiences and traits.
Why I am doing this? I have had the amazing opportunity to seek treatments and visit some amazing spa’s (over the last month) and have plans to visit more (over the next month), all on a personal level w family and friends. So why not, take to my blog, dive deep in to these experiences, and share with you. :) I am passionate about spa’s, love them. And want you to have the same experiences, while visiting them.

But I do appreciate your comments, and you can add any spa critiques of your own, here.

So where have I been? Valentines Day weekend, MII AMO SPA, Enchantment Resort, Sedona Arizona. http://www.enchantmentresort.com/sedona-spa-miiamo/  I give this spa “5 Robes”

Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. All day spa, or all weekend or all week spa. Actually, I tried to move in. Spa comes complete. Robe and slippers upon your arrival. Locker room, private showers, private gender jacuzzi spa, saunas and heat rooms, private entry to upstairs massage rooms. Wonderful staff, upstairs complete with outside jacuzzi spa, tented for privacy. IBack down stairs, includes inside pool, out side pool and jacuzzi spa. Amazing staff. Restaurant and bar, robe attire encouraged. Amazing menu. Big item or piece the restaurant, Mii Amo Cafe pushes is there salad dressing and pairing sauce aged balsamic vinegar, ages 8years or 20 years, very sweet in taste. All fruit juice’s made fresh to order. squeezed right then.

However, my critiques of MII AMO will not do it justice, as it is a World Class Destination,it is ranked as the best of the World destination spas by Travel + Leisure readers in 2007 and 2009. http://www.enchantmentresort.com/sedona-spa-miiamo/destination-spa-resort/

The thing to do at MII AMO, is first take the 20 minute hike to one of Sedona’s Vortex, directly behind MII AMO, a short 20 minute hike, overlooking MII AMO. The Cochina vortex, overlooks MII AMO and the resort. Then head back down to the Spa, to enjoy one of its amazing treatments. ,

A thing to view, and I wish I could remember one of the neat treatments and thing to see, when you walk in to the spa, on your way to the gender rooms and pool, you over look a door on your left. As sometimes the door is closed for private and group treatments. In this this room, is a heat room, built to the Native American Indians design, complete with warming stone and one large crystal. At summer solstice in Sedona for one moment in time, the sun hits this amazing earth magnified crystal, to light the room. I did not see it, but Ive heard this is the thing to witness and enjoy. I plan to be back.

More spas!!! So the only problem is that MII AMO started my recent Spa tour. So every spa after this, has a lot to measure up to, making my critique harder or easier. Not sure yet.

On the very opposite side of the spectrum (for location only), I stopped into my local day spa, last week. OB Hidden Spa http://www.obhiddenspa.com/ . Located in hippie town, Ocean Beach, San Diego’s not so finest town. But its my home, and I love the color and wildness of this beach community. If you are familiar with Ocean Beach. Day Spa, is not the first thing that comes to mind, instead maybe deadheads and Organics stores. Anyhow, I stopped into OB Hidden Spa, for a quick service. I just needed my regular Brazilian. I has pleased to walk into the Hidden Spa and walk off crazy OB streets, and into a sanctuary. Scented with spa smells and warmth, my waiting room was casual, warming and complete with Spa lemon cucumber water. The perfect waiting room, for what I needed. From there my host took me to her room. Pleasantly pleased with professional service and small talk. My waxier, was an quick, hurt less and comfortable. Highly recommend this day spa for any daily service, walk in message. Massages are priced very well and fair. OB Hidden Spa gets “2 Robes” only because it is a day spa, I would put at my list of day spa’s. And do highly recommend for locals to Ocean Beach, or if your town and need cost friendly service. Want to be pampered, but don't need to go overboard.

The Next Spa on our schedule: The Spa at Desert Springs at the JW Marriott in Desert Springs, Palm Desert. Again we will be visiting as paying customers as guest to both the hotel and the resort. http://www.spa.desertspringsresort.com/

Following this trip, I will be at the Grape Seed Spa, South Coast Winery Resort and Spa, Temecula CA. http://www.wineresort.com/spa
